Hareline Strung Marabou Blood Quills

The Feather That Breathes Underwater

Strung Marabou Blood Quills are what happens when you take marabou's legendary movement and put it on a stem. These aren't your standard fluffy plumes—blood quills give you the wispy, undulating action marabou is famous for, but with the structure and control of a proper feather.

Why They're Different

Blood quills are the center stem of marabou feathers with all those soft, flowing fibers still attached. Think of them as marabou with a backbone. This means you can palmer them like hackle, tie them in as tails that actually stay put, or wrap them for bodies that pulse and breathe with every twitch of your retrieve. The fibers move independently in the water, creating that "alive" look that makes fish forget they're supposed to be cautious.

Perfect For Tying

  • Woolly Bugger Tails: The classic application—tails that undulate like they're trying to escape
  • Palmered Bodies: Wrap them forward for leeches, buggers, and streamers with maximum movement
  • Steelhead & Salmon Flies: Intruders, spey flies, and egg-sucking leeches that swing with authority
  • Bass Streamers: Tails and bodies on patterns that need to look alive at rest
  • Pike Flies: Big, meaty profiles with hypnotic action
  • Saltwater Patterns: Baitfish and shrimp imitations that breathe underwater

Tying Tips

Strip the fibers from one side of the quill for a more directional look, or leave them on both sides for maximum bulk and movement. Palmer them wet for tighter wraps, or dry for a bushier profile. Either way, you're getting movement that loose marabou can't match.

Strung for convenience, available in colors that cover everything from natural to "I dare you to ignore this."
